IN PHOTOS: Comfy beds, stunning views, beautiful rooftop pool, and more at Microtel Technohub Quezon City

I stayed at Microtel Technohub recently because it was just a short walk away from a conference I was attending. I had no idea it was perfect for a staycation, though, and I found myself relaxing and enjoying after conference hours were over.

I had stayed at other Microtel branches for fieldwork for research projects, and I like their back-friendly, chiropractor-approved beds, and so I was looking forward to relaxing nights of sleep after my conference this time. The buffet breakfasts are satisfying too, with just a wide enough selection of Filipino and Western food.

What I did not expect, though, especially in Metro Manila, was a relaxing garden courtyard (we seriously need more green spaces like this in the city!), a beautiful rooftop pool that looks romantic at night, and a stunning view of Quezon City and neighboring areas’ skyline. And yes, sunsets!

For a mid-priced hotel (on booking sites it’s a little over Php3,000), all these features are worth the money.

Below are some photos from our stay to give an idea of just how relaxing it was for me.

Garden courtyard at Microtel Technohub. This was the sight that greeted us when we came in!

Friendly welcome staff!

Our room with the back-friendly beds! Seriously had restful sleep here.

I love this about all Microtel branches I stayed at so far – there’s always a comfortable window seat where you can just relax and look at the view.

And I got to see this hardworking hotel staff sweeping, too. Quite a refreshing sight.

Basic bathroom with the rainshower. I prefer this kind of shower for a bigger trickle of water.

There are PWD-friendly, wheelchair-accessible rooms, too. I was curious to take a look at one. This is quite roomy so that the wheelchair can easily go around. I appreciate such a room in light of my temporary disability from a broken leg.

There are handlebars at the toilet so that those with physical disability can have an easier time getting up.

And peepholes are made low for the wheelchair-bound, too!

During the late afternoon prior to the conference’s welcome dinner, I took a dip at the rooftop pool

From the roof deck you can also see Quezon City and the mountains of neighboring provinces.

And of course, sunsets can be enjoyed from the roof deck too.

I love the colors of the pool most at night, though. “Romantic” was the word that easily came to me.

When I thought “romantic,” I was not too far off as the hotel is actually used for prenuptial photo shoots. Here we are “practicing” for our own hopefully in the future. =)

The garden courtyard looks beautiful at night, too.

Millie’s, the hotel restaurant, is also good for chilling and dining at other hours apart from breakfast.

One of the friendly and perceptive staff at Millie’s. They easily anticipated what we wanted after our first day. They knew I wanted tea, not coffee, for example.

Were it not for our conference, I would have spent more time enjoying my stay at Microtel, especially the pool and the rooftop views!

If you want to have a staycation here, you need not leave for the entire weekend, since their restaurant serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. But if you want to explore, Ayala Land Technohub has many restaurants to choose from, which is around a ten-minute walk or a short jeepney ride away. Better yet, if you want to go food tripping, there’s Maginhawa Street, around 15 minutes away by taxi. Dubbed as “Yummy Street,” Maginhawa has an abundance of food establishments, from barbecue and street food places to casual dining restaurants, and from food trucks to themed cafes.

University of the Philippines-Diliman and the Quezon City Memorial Circle are also less than ten minutes away, especially if you enjoy wider green spaces and more trees.

So, if you are looking for a relaxing and beautiful place for a staycation at a relatively affordable price  giving the best value for money, my recommendation would be Microtel.

And, it’s perfect for a romantic stay this hearts month, too, or any time of the year!
